Meet The Founder
Irene’s journey in hair began in 2009, but her purpose was shaped by something deeper than technique alone. As a stylist with natural curls herself, she experienced firsthand how textured hair was often misunderstood, rushed, or overlooked in traditional salon spaces. Over the years, while refining her craft and specialising in texture and curls, Irene saw a clear gap - a lack of education, intention, and genuine care for natural hair. In 2018, she founded Zhoosh to answer that need, creating a space dedicated entirely to celebrating curls, restoring confidence, and offering an experience where clients feel seen, understood, and guided.
The Zhoosh Team
The Zhoosh team is made up of strong, dedicated women who each play an important role in bringing the salon to life. From assisting Irene and caring for clients in the salon, to managing daily operations, organising bookings, handling marketing, and working behind the scenes - every team member contributes to the Zhoosh experience. Whether you meet them in the salon or never see the work they do in the background, their passion, care, and commitment make a difference every day. We are deeply grateful for each person who helps create the supportive, welcoming space that defines Zhoosh.
Why Zhoosh Exists
For many people with curls, salons have often felt overwhelming - spaces where their hair is hurried through, mishandled, or treated as a problem to fix rather than something to honour. Growing up curly often means learning to navigate a world that didn’t know how to care for your hair, leaving many feeling unseen or unsure of where they belong. The Zhoosh Cut was created to change that experience. It is a place where curlies are welcomed, understood, and supported - where clients can meet, learn from one another, build confidence, and begin or continue their curl journey together. Here, curls are celebrated, stories are shared, and every curl is seen, supported, and given the care and understanding it has always deserved.
